The big question that needs to be answered for many people when they travel is whether or not they should car share or rent. The best way to really determine what is the best option is to look at the advantages of each and determine which is more useful during your travel.

The thing you need to really determine is whether or not your budget permits either over the other in terms of cost. A car rental will usually cost a bit to take advantage of. You are paying for a full day use at least and most people will not need to use it the entire day. A car share option is on an hourly basis, but the initial cost of joining a membership will make the costs higher than you may expect. Both services are affordable if they are used to their full potential.

One of the bigger costs that you should be aware of is the rental insurance. Of course for a rental vehicle, you will need to purchase this separately, and it may be higher if you have accidents in your driving record. Car share vehicles often have the insurance included in the rate at a flat fee. This makes it much cheaper to use a car share option, especially if you are using it for only a few hours for that day.

The next big thing is the use of the vehicle. Depending on whether or not you will be using the vehicle on and off throughout the day, one option may be better than another. A car share can be used for a block of hours while a rental can be used all day.
